FAQ

How do I take care of the picks?

Like all things, over exposure to sunlight and heat may change the attributes of it. Stones like these are natural and are not immune to such.

Avoid long and over exposure to sunlight due to UV, and keep it away from a heat source.

Avoid cleaning with hard tap water as they contain naturally occurring minerals which may contaminate or react with the stones.

Handle them with care, and avoid dropping it. Although they have been stabilised, they are not prone to drop damages (as they do feel heavy).

Keep them stored and cleaned in the microfibre pouch provided and don't lose them!

Are the picks durable?

We typically select stones that are above that are rated above 6 of the Mohs scale. In comparison, amethyst is rated at 7, hence using a kitchen knife will not scratch the surface of it, and you can scratch glass with it without causing any damage to it!

During the manufacturing process, the stone undergo a stabilisation procedure where epoxy resin is coated onto the stone to prevent any fractures or breakages during the milling process. As such, it strengthens the durability for playing!

This is a common process in manufacturing. Any residue is removed as the pieces are cut in precision and polished.

Will the picks scratch?

Our picks are made of natural stones. They are hard and rigid to produce that ideal and fullest tone that guitarists desire. Hence on most occasions it is harder than the strings or other plastic parts of the guitar. There is a possibility that it may be scratchy, so handle and play with care!

Are the materials used natural?

Yes! They are not dyed and are cut from a single piece of stone. We work very closely, and follow through on steps that our manufacturer take.

Why can't the picks be made without the stabilisation process?

Natural gemstones, while beautiful and unique, often contain inherent weaknesses such as microscopic fissures and cracks, and varying levels of hardness. These imperfections can compromise the structural integrity and durability of a guitar pick.

Without stabilisation, the natural imperfections of the stones could lead to frequent breakage. The stabilisation process not only preserves the natural beauty of the gemstones but also ensures that they are durable and reliable for regular use.

Are your picks hand made?

Our picks are machined into these beautiful picks that you see. CNC machining ensures each pick is at the exact dimension that we want it to be at without any errors.

We are also able to bring the costs down for you by removing large of the labour work involved!
